Our story
APNA means our own.

Babli Devi wanted a place people could come together and not feel alone.
CIC from 22 August 2023. Doors opened at Manor House on 4 September 2023.
01 / Why we exist
Too many adults in Leicester spend most of the week alone. Services exist, but they can feel unfamiliar: hard to reach, hard to walk into, and nobody there who knows you.
APNA started from a simple idea: a place to come together, make friends, have a cuppa and a laugh, and know you are not on your own. A warm room, familiar faces, and someone who notices when you don't arrive.
Who it is for
Any adult in Leicester who would rather not spend the week on their own. All welcome.
Familiar, not clinical
A warm room, shared meals, music and company, whoever you are. Dignity starts with being known.
Same time, every week
Consistency is the service. Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm.
Everyone brings something
Members lead singing, cook and welcome newcomers. Nobody is only a recipient.
02 / How it started
More than twenty years of caring, listening and supporting people in this community.
APNA Day Centre is registered as a Community Interest Company, CIC 15089464.
The doors open at Manor House, Haddenham Road, Leicester.
Tea, conversation, making things, moving together, and room to talk about health and how people are.
03 / What a day is made of
The week is built from small, repeated things.
Tea, making, moving and talking. Everything else grows from that.
